Guide: How to choose and mount your parasol bracket correctly
Which balcony parasols bracket you should choose, depends on the dimensions of your balcony railing. It is therefore important that you measure the railing before purchasing both the parasol and the bracket. We offer several different brackets both our own design, from Balcony Living Cph and from other brands that all fit different sizes of balcony railings, different parasol poles and are even mounted differently. Here we have compiled a guide to what dimensions which bracket fits, what bracket fits which parasol, and how each bracket should be mounted on your balcony railing. Sams and Smart
The parasol brackets Sams (see picture 1) and Smart (see picture 2) both fit a flat balcony railing and are very similar to each other. To find out if the brackets fit your balcony railing, measure the height of your balcony railing, which should be 2-5 cm. In addition, we recommend that the width of your railing should be a minimum of 4 cm to ensure that the brackets will be firmly attached. Therefore, also measure the width of your balcony railing.
If your balcony railing meets these criterias, Sam could be a great match if you are interested in the following parasols: Ellen, Locarno and Siesta, as the bracket only fits parasols with a pole dimension of: Ø25 mm. With the Smart bracket you will have a few more options. You can choose between all parasols with a pole dimension between Ø25 and Ø35 mm. Options here could be: Ellen, Locarno, Siesta, Stine, Alu-Smart Easy, Alu-Twist Easy, Flex-Roof and Novara.
Once you have both the bracket and the parasol, the mounting of both can begin. Both Sams and Smart work the same way. You simply remove the long vertical screw so you can place the bracket on the balcony railing where you want the parasol. Then tighten the screw firmly again to fasten the bracket to the railing. To make room for the parasol pole, loosen the horizontal screw on the side of the bracket. Once you have placed the balcony parasol pole inside, tighten the screw so that the bracket fits snugly.
Hans
The parasol bracket Hans is particularly suitable for a rounded balcony railing and can be placed both above and below the balcony railing - all depending on the type of railing - and the distance between the balcony slats. To find out whether the bracket fits your balcony railing, you must therefore measure the width of the balcony railing, which must not exceed 8.5 cm, the height of the railing, which must not exceed 9 cm, and the distance between the bars, which must not exceed 7 cm.
If the parasol bracket fits your balcony railing, you can choose between all of our parasols, as the bracket is both available for parasols with a pole dimension of up to Ø28 and Ø38 mm.
To mount the bracket and the parasol, first loosen the two screws so that you can release the part of the bracket that looks like a handle. Once you have done that, you can place the bracket where you want the parasol and reassemble the bracket via the screws. The bracket is now mounted, and you can then loosen the screws on the tube which will make room for the parasol pole and tighten again after you have placed the parasol pole.
Tyge
Tyge is very similar to Hans - however stronger and with greater stability. Tyge is therefore also suitable for a rounded balcony railing and can be placed both above and below the balcony railing, depending on the type of railing. To assess whether the bracket fits your balcony railing, measure the width of the balcony railing, which must not exceed 8 - 8.5 cm, and the height of the railing, which must not exceed 6 cm and the distance between the bars, which must not exceed 9 cm.
Tyge is combinable, just like Hans, with many of our balcony parasols, as the bracket is both available for parasols with a pole diameter uo to Ø28 and Ø38 mm. To mount both the bracket and parasol simply follow the same procedure as explained above for Hans parasol bracket.
Frey
Frey parasol bracket is especially developed to ensure a stable and secure attachment of your balcony parasol. To find out if the bracket fits your balcony railing, measure the distance between the bars, which must not exceed 14 cm, and the depth of the bars, which must not exceed 5 cm.
If the measurements fit, you will with Frey have the opportunity to choose between all the balcony parasols we offer, because the bracket is both available for parasols with a pipe diameter of up to Ø28 and Ø38 mm.
To mount Frey, first disassemble the bracket by unscrewing the screws on the back of the bracket and removing the back cover. Then it will be possible for you to place the bracket on the balcony railing where you want your parasol. Then reattach the back cover with the screws. You will now have mounted the bracket and be ready to loosen the screws at the metal tube that will make room for the parasol pole, tighten the screws again once the parasol pole is in place.
Halvor
Halvor parasol bracket is suitable for the thin, vertical bars on your balcony railing. To assess whether the bracket fits your railing, you must therefore measure the depth of the vertical bar, which must not exceed 7 cm, and the width, which must not exceed 4 cm.
Halvor works well with all parasols that have a pole diameter of up to Ø28 and Ø38 mm, therefore if the dimensions of your balcony railing match the dimensions of the bracket, you will have the opportunity to choose between all our offered parasols.
The mounting of the Halvor is very similar to the mounting of the other brackets. You must first disassemble the bracket by unscrewing the screws that hold the bracket together. Next, place the bracket on your balcony railing where you want your parasol. Then reassemble the bracket with the screws. The mounting of the bracket will now be done and you can make room for the parasol pole by loosening the other screws on the bracket, which you will have to tighten again once the parasol pole is in place.
Sumo
Sumo bracket is the ideal bracket for a wide balcony railing and thicker concrete or brick balcony walls. Before choosing the bracket, first measure the width of the balcony railing, which should be between 5-11 cm.
If the parasol bracket fits your balcony railing, you can choose between all our different balcony parasols with a pole diameter of up to Ø28 and Ø38 mm.
To mount the bracket on the balcony railing, first loosen the screw and fasten the bracket to the railing, and then place the bracket where it suits you, and tighten it again. When the mounting of the bracket is in order, loosen the other screws on the tube and place the parasol pole inside, and tighten these again once the parasol pole has been put in place.
Rune
Rune parasol bracket is suitable for mounting on horizontal round balcony railings. This can be the case, for example, if your handrail is shaped like a round metal tube. Before purchasing, make sure that your railing does not have a diameter bigger than 5.5 cm, which is the maximum diameter of the Rune bracket.
The parasol bracket is available for parasols with a pole diameter of either Ø28 or Ø38 mm.
Rune is mounted the same way as most of our parasol brackets. Loosen and remove the screws that hold the bracket in place and then mount the bracket wherever you want on the railing. Once the bracket is securely fastened, loosen the screws on the parasol bracket itself to make room for the parasol pole. Once this is in place, tighten firmly for a secure and stable attachment of your parasol.
Bram
Bram is our bracket for balconies with glass railings. The clever thing about Bram is that it can be attached to the top of the glass panel, keeping your parasol in place. Screws are not mounted through the glass, but simply fastened from each side of the glass.
Depending on the thickness of the glass panel, you can adjust the screws on the bracket to fit the thickness of the glass. The bracket has a weight that secures it in place together with the screw system.
Kaj
Kaj is our clever bracket for balconies that have a flat balcony railing. You can easily clamp Kaj to the railing using the included mounting nuts. If the top handrail is wooden, it can be placed on metal handrails below.
If you choose a very large parasol, it may be a good idea to add more brackets or a parasol base for extra stability. Especially in very windy weather. The maximum thickness of the railing is 3.5 cm and it is available in both Ø28 and Ø38 depending on the diameter of your parasol pole.
Carl
Carl parasol brackets are suitable for attaching a parasol to vertical round poles. Always remember to measure the diameter of the poles before purchasing, as Carl only fits poles with a maximum thickness of 5.5 cm.
The parasol bracket is compatible with parasols with a pole diameter of up to Ø28 or Ø38 mm.
To mount Carl, unscrew the screws on the horizontal part of the bracket completely. Then attach the bracket to the desired location on the railing and tighten the screws again. To install the parasol, loosen the screws on the parasol bracket itself until the parasol pole can be inserted and then tighten them again.
